-- Plumbing Services in Huntington
Huntington is one of the most varied communities in Suffolk County for plumbing work. The Town of Huntington covers a wide range of housing — pre-war colonials and Victorians in Huntington village, 1960s and 1970s splits and ranches in East Northport and Huntington Station, waterfront properties along Huntington Harbor and Lloyd Harbor, and larger custom colonials in Cold Spring Harbor and Centerport. Each type presents different plumbing considerations.
The older homes in the Huntington village area — particularly those from before 1950 — often have original supply and drain infrastructure that has been in place for 70 or 80 years. We find galvanized supply lines that have corroded to near-closure, cast iron drain stacks that have cracked at joints, and water heaters installed in small utility closets that require care to replace. We work through all of it.
Water heater replacement, drain cleaning, and boiler service make up the largest part of our regular work in Huntington. Long Island winters hit the North Shore hard, and boilers that have not been serviced run less efficiently and are more likely to fail when it gets cold. We do annual tune-ups and emergency boiler repairs throughout Huntington, and we install Bradford White water heaters that are sized correctly for each household.
USERCHECKINS
Job 1: Water heater replacement, Huntington. Bradford White 50-gallon power vent gas unit in a 1978 colonial — old unit was 19 years old and leaking from the bottom tank seam. Replaced with a new 50-gallon unit of the same type. Matched the existing venting run. No disruption to the household routine.
Job 2: Boiler service and repair, Huntington. Annual tune-up on a gas steam boiler in a 1920s Huntington village colonial. Found the low-water cutoff was fouled with rust sediment and was not responding correctly. Replaced the LWCO, flushed the boiler, adjusted the pressuretrol. All radiators heating evenly.
Job 3: Main sewer line clearing, Huntington. Recurring backup in a split-level — camera confirmed roots in the clay sewer lateral at two joints. Cleared with a root-cutting head, confirmed the pipe walls were intact. Recommended annual camera inspection given the oak tree in the front yard directly above the lateral.
Job 4: Galvanized supply repipe, Huntington. 1940s cape in Huntington village — original galvanized supply lines, trickle of pressure at the upstairs bath and kitchen. Replaced all galvanized runs with copper from the main shutoff. Full pressure restored.
Job 5: Emergency pipe burst, Huntington. January call — pipe burst in a garage utility room where the supply line ran along an uninsulated exterior wall. Repaired the copper break, rerouted the pipe away from the exterior wall, and added insulation to the garage wall cavity.
Job 6: Tankless water heater installation, Huntington. Customer in a large Lloyd Harbor colonial wanted on-demand hot water and to reclaim space in the utility room. Installed a Navien NPE-240A2 condensing unit. Ran new 3/4" gas supply and dedicated PVC exhaust venting.
Job 7: Drain cleaning — kitchen, Huntington. Grease blockage in the kitchen drain about 15 feet down the line in a 1960s split-level. Snaked and flushed. Also replaced the corroded P-trap under the sink while we were there.
Job 8: Shower pressure-balancing valve replacement, Huntington. Master bath shower was getting random temperature swings — very hot when the toilet was flushed. The pressure-balancing cartridge had failed. Replaced the cartridge; temperature is now consistent regardless of other fixtures being used.
