How much does it cost?

No. You get a written price before any work starts. For simple jobs we can often give you a range over the phone.
Two jobs with the same name can be very different. A clog near a sink can take a few minutes. A main line blocked by roots can take hours and a camera inspection. Pipe material, access, parts and permits all move the price.
Usually, yes. Nights, weekends and same-hour calls carry an after-hours rate. If the problem can wait a few days, scheduling ahead avoids that premium.

How does it work?
For emergencies like a burst pipe, no heat or a flooding basement, we answer calls 24/7 and send the first available plumber. For everything else, we usually book a visit within a few days.
Shut off the water. The main shutoff valve is usually where the water line comes into the house, often in the basement or near the water heater. For a leak at one fixture, close the small valve under it. If water is near outlets or appliances, turn off the power to that area.
Most tank swaps take a few hours. A tankless install can take most of a day, especially if the gas line or venting needs changes.
Yes, when the job needs one. In Suffolk County, permits come from your town or village building department, not the county. Water heater, boiler and gas line work usually needs a permit. We file it and set up the inspection.
For most jobs, yes, at least at the start and at the end. That way we can show you what we found and what we did. For longer jobs, you do not need to stay the whole time.

Which option is right?
A tank heater costs less up front and is simpler to replace. A tankless unit costs more, heats water on demand, takes less space and usually lasts longer. It needs a gas line and venting that can support it. If your household keeps running out of hot water, tankless is worth a look.
A tank water heater usually lasts about 10 to 15 years. A tankless unit can last 20 years or more with regular flushing. Long Island's moderately hard water shortens both without maintenance.
Replacement usually makes more sense when the boiler is past 20 to 25 years old, needs repairs every season, or the repair would cost close to half the price of a new unit. Otherwise, a repair and a yearly tune-up can keep it running.
Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to clean grease, scale and roots off the inside of a drain line. A snake clears a path through a clog. Jetting cleans the whole pipe wall. It helps when the same line keeps clogging.
Yes. We replace failed pumps and add battery backup units, which keep the pump running when the power goes out during a storm.
What is covered?
The manufacturer warranty depends on the model. Many tank water heaters carry a 6 to 12 year tank warranty, and tankless units often have longer coverage on the heat exchanger. We install to the manufacturer's specifications so that warranty stays valid, and we go over the coverage for your unit before we install it.
Many policies cover sudden damage, like a pipe that bursts, but not slow leaks or wear and tear. Coverage varies, so check your policy. We can document the cause and the repair for your claim.
Yes. Plumbing work in Suffolk County has to be done by a licensed plumber. We carry general liability insurance and workers' compensation, and we can send proof on request.
