-- Plumbing Services in Lake Grove
Lake Grove is a mid-Suffolk community in the Town of Brookhaven, primarily made up of 1960s and 1970s residential development — ranches, capes, and split-levels that were built as Long Island expanded east along the LIE corridor. These homes are now at the age where original plumbing components are reaching the end of their useful lives and need to be replaced rather than repeatedly repaired.
Water heater replacement is a consistent part of our work in Lake Grove. Many of the original water heaters in homes from this era have been replaced once or twice already, but that still means units that are 12 to 20 years old are in service and starting to show the signs — inconsistent temperature, slow recovery, rust-colored water, or the beginnings of a leak at the base. We install Bradford White units in the correct size for the household and haul away the old unit.
Drain cleaning is the other regular call in Lake Grove. Decades of grease, soap, and mineral deposits in older drain lines create blockages that become progressively worse. We snake and hydro-jet as the situation requires, and we tell you honestly if a camera inspection makes sense. We also handle boiler service, fixture replacement, pipe repair, and emergency calls across Lake Grove on a regular basis.
USERCHECKINS
Job 1: Water heater replacement, Lake Grove. 40-gallon gas unit in a 1969 ranch — 15 years old, producing tepid water and the recovery had slowed dramatically. Replaced with a Bradford White 50-gallon gas unit. Customer was surprised how much better the hot water was.
Job 2: Boiler zone repair, Lake Grove. One of two zones in a 1970s colonial was not heating — the thermostat call was going through but the baseboard was cold. Found a failed zone valve on the first-floor zone. Replaced the zone valve motor head and tested both zones. Full heat to both floors restored.
Job 3: Drain cleaning — bathroom and kitchen, Lake Grove. Both bathroom drains and the kitchen drain slow in a 1966 split-level. Snaked all three from the fixture, cleared hair, soap, and grease at each location. Tested flow with water running at all three simultaneously — all draining properly.
Job 4: Toilet replacement, Lake Grove. Customer wanted to replace the original 1968 toilet in the main bath. Removed the old unit, found the closet flange was corroded — replaced the flange and set a new elongated comfort-height toilet. Much better for the customer who had mobility concerns.
Job 5: Supply line leak repair, Lake Grove. Small wet spot on the finished basement ceiling — traced to a pinhole in a copper supply line where the pipe passed through the subfloor joists. Opened a small access panel, soldered a repair coupling over the pinhole. No further leak.
Job 6: Gas line test — appliance hookup, Lake Grove. Customer had a plumber from another company install a new gas range but wanted a second opinion on the connection. Pressure-tested the new flexible connector. Found the fitting was slightly loose at the range end. Tightened and retested — no leak.
Job 7: Sump pump check and float replacement, Lake Grove. Customer wanted a pre-storm season inspection. Pump motor was fine but the float switch was sticking at a high position, meaning the pump was not activating until the pit was nearly full. Replaced the float switch. Pump now activates at the proper level.
Job 8: Shower head and cartridge replacement, Lake Grove. Low-flow shower head combined with a worn cartridge was producing inconsistent temperature. Replaced the cartridge and installed a new shower head with better flow characteristics. Customer noticed significantly better water pressure.
