-- Plumbing Services in Ronkonkoma

Ronkonkoma is a central Suffolk community in the Town of Islip, centered around Lake Ronkonkoma and the Long Island Rail Road station. The residential areas here span several decades of construction — postwar housing close to the lake and along the older roads, and 1970s and 1980s suburban development extending toward the expressway. All of it is at the age where plumbing maintenance and equipment replacement are regular needs.

Water heater replacement is one of our most frequent Ronkonkoma calls. Gas water heaters are the standard in most of these homes, and units that are 12 to 15 years old are approaching or at the point of replacement. Signs to watch for: slow recovery time, rumbling or popping sounds when heating (sediment buildup), rust-tinted hot water, or a visible puddle under the tank. We install Bradford White units and can advise on sizing for the current household.

Drain cleaning and boiler service round out our regular Ronkonkoma work. The mid-island winters bring frozen pipe calls as well — uninsulated runs in basements, crawl spaces, and garage utility areas are the typical failure points. We handle these emergencies and can help you prevent them with pre-season inspections.

USERCHECKINS

Job 1: Water heater replacement, Ronkonkoma. 50-gallon gas unit in a 1974 ranch near the lake — making a loud rumbling noise during heating cycles. Heavy sediment buildup from years of service. Unit was 16 years old. Replaced with a Bradford White 50-gallon power vent unit. Quiet operation, fast recovery.

Job 2: Drain clearing — kitchen and basement, Ronkonkoma. Kitchen drain was completely stopped up. Snaked from the drum cleanout in the basement, cleared a combined grease and paper towel blockage (customer was putting paper towels down the drain). Drain clear; discussed what should not go down the drain.

Job 3: Boiler service — pre-season, Ronkonkoma. Gas hot water boiler in a 1968 colonial. Cleaned burner, tested the expansion tank, bled baseboard zones throughout the house. Found low water pressure in the system — the fill valve was partially clogged. Cleaned the fill valve. System running at proper operating pressure.

Job 4: Toilet flange and wax ring, Ronkonkoma. Downstairs toilet was loose and had been rocking for months — water stain forming on the basement ceiling below. Pulled the toilet, found the closet flange had cracked at the anchor bolt tabs. Replaced the flange, installed a new wax ring, reset the toilet. Solid and dry.

Job 5: Frozen pipe repair, Ronkonkoma. January emergency — burst pipe where a supply line ran through an uninsulated section of the attached garage. Two-foot section of copper split at the freeze point. Repaired the split, added pipe insulation to the run, installed a frost alarm in the garage.

Job 6: Kitchen faucet installation, Ronkonkoma. Customer purchased a two-handle kitchen faucet and wanted it installed. Removed the old faucet, replaced the supply stops (original gate valves from 1974 that would barely close), and installed the new faucet. New supply lines also installed.

Job 7: Well pressure tank, Ronkonkoma. Customer on a private well had short-cycling pressure — pump was running every 20 seconds. Captive air bladder in the pressure tank had ruptured. Replaced the pressure tank with a properly sized unit. Normal cycling restored.

Job 8: Sump pump battery backup installation, Ronkonkoma. Existing primary sump pump was working but customer wanted a battery backup after their neighbor flooded during a summer storm when the power went out. Installed a battery backup unit in the existing pit alongside the primary pump. Customer now has coverage during power outages.
